Heavy conditioning treatment will weigh it down if you do it often enough. You could also use a flat iron. Mine makes my hair straight as a pin. I have to use root lifter to fluff it up a little cause all straighteners do that.

my hair is exactly the same way. I find that the classic ponytail or messy bun works out best for everyday wear, because it gets the hair away from your face and doesn't stick flat to your head. For days when you want to look prettier, wearing it down can work, but you have to do it just right. Take a shower and put a tiny bit of conditioner on the bottom half of your hair to make your hair shinier and smoother. When you get out, wrap your hair in a towel so that it dries somewhat, then, comb your hair out so it has no knots. After you do this, flip your head upside down and blow dry it. This will keep your hair volumized for atleast a few hours. To help it stay that way, throughout the day, flip your head upside down and brush your hair away from your head. Products like Dove Foam conditioner are great for fine hair, because they rinse out almost completely, so will not make your hair flat as a pancake...

I have the same problem. Don't get layers on the back of your head or it will make it look like you have a lot less hair. Shorter hair is better when you fine hair. If you let it get too long, it gets weighed down.

I would suggest that you get a good haircut to get rid of the dry-split ends and then have the stylist color your hair so that it is all one color. The bottom of your hair may also be lighter because of the dry ends.

Use a volumizing shampoo and a good hair conditioner. Wash your hair more often to keep your scalp and hair closest to your scalp from getting greasy and dirty looking. When you put the conditioner on, just put it on the ends of your hair. You don't need to put the conditioner on your scalp. I squirt the conditioner in my hands, rub my hands together and then just place the conditioner on the ends.

get your hair cut/trimmed to help the ends. then, once a week use olive oil when you wash your hair. heat up a bit of it then put it in wet hair (just the ends for you!). leave in for 3-5mins then shampoo and condition as usual.

for the greasy roots, you can do a egg white treatment on the roots when you do the olive oil treatment, minus the heating of course. also, for a quick fix when it's looking greasy put some baby powder on and work it in, then brush. it soaks up some of the grease.

I have thin hair too and I totally understand where you are coming from. I found that having thin hair is REALLY great for styling. Unlike thick hair that resists curls and takes forever. I would recommend using the curling iron or hot rollers and curling your hair. Spritz with hairspray lightly. It will look nice and voluminous on you. You can still do a ponytail with curls to give a fun look. You can also put it in a messy bun to bring attention to your face.

Okay, yep i had the same probs but when u sweep it over do it when u have just had a shower so when your hair is wet. Then dry it and usually is shouldnt poof out. I have rili thick hair and i found sweeping it over when its wet helps. Over suggestion is to go to a hairdressers and ask them to thin it out. Or maybe 'i havnt tried this' but try thinning it without thinning scissors if you no how to.

Get a non base oil shampoo, oil will weight your hair down.

If you are buying a cheap wal mart brand read the label for fine, thin hair.

Shampoos do various things. Matrix has a line for fine hair. Does it matter how much it will cost? Is that not the only hair and skin(scalp) that you will ever have? I'm using Purple (for silky straight hair) and my hair is looking good, and straightening perfectly.

Whatever you do: DO NOT USE PANTENE - unlike other shampoo and conditioner brands, pantene damages the bits on your hair called imprecations, and leaves your hair feeling dry, despite what their ad says.
