Will my hair start to thin if I keep using a flat iron to straighten my hair every day? What is a good alternative to using a flat iron that will keep my hair straight? I've tried Japanese straightening and it's great, but I had to stop because it's too expensive.

A flat iron will most definitely damage your hair if you use it everyday. Get a good strong blow dryer, and a big round brush. It won't work as well as a flat iron, but it's healthier. Also using very big rollers might work, but again they won't make your hair completely straight. Get a good cream for straightening to apply to your hair before styling too.

I have a really good hairdresser who can make my hair completely straight just by using a blowdryer and brush, and it lasts for a 3 days or so. I can't get the same affect on my own though.

I used this product just yesterday that worked really well on my hair. It's by Garnier Fructis, for hair that 's difficult to straighten. You don't rinse it out. Maybe you can try that, and just blowdry your hair instead of flat ironing it

if you straighten your hair everyday for a long period of time, it will start to thin. if you really need to straighten it EVERY DAY, make sure that you deep condition your hair at least once a week..

If you straighten your hair everyday it should not thin if you are getting regular trims and using good products. The only way your hair will thin is if your hair is breaking off from being damaged.

I straighten my hair a lot but I do give it breaks if I am not going anywhere or sometimes I wear it up for the day too for a break.

If you have"Thick hair"I dont think so i used one for years(good one)

All it will do is cause lots of your hair brecking off,Then from that your hair will look like crap.(You can fix that by getting layers but it still wont look good)And permenitly straight hair products or going to a salon(it dosent work forever)You just waste money and it recks your hair.

i have asked this to the one who cuts my hair and they said it is harmful only if you burn your hair. I use this stuff calledsleek look it is from matrix and i was told to use this and my hair is doing great. I paid around15.00 for it. Try this if you dont use it already. I was never told it would thin my hair out if I straighten it everyday.

I do not think so. Thinning is either because of malnutrition or some other problem. Just by heating the top of the hair and not the root you will not make it thin.
